Class: 2nd year M.Sc. Counseling Psychology (Batch 2022-24)
Activity: Mental Health Upliftment and Psycho Education for students of SJU at Magis Block Entrance, St. Joseph’s University
On the 13th of November, the MSc. Counseling Psychology final-year students coordinated a Mental Health Awareness event which took place at the Magis block, where the students set up booths focused on promoting awareness about mental health. The main focus of this event was to disseminate awareness about mental health issues among the students of St. Joseph’s University. The objective of the event was to break down the stigma associated with mental health issues and encourage individuals to seek help without fear of judgment or discrimination. A total of ten stalls were set up, and each stall was managed by four students who facilitated various activities related to mental health awareness. The stalls encompassed a diverse range of mental healthcare and support such as ‘Cash in Resources’, ‘Affirmations’, ‘Peer 2 Hear’, ‘Cope with us’, ‘Express your emotions’, ‘Zen Yourself’, ‘In your feels’, ‘Pop a Balloon’, ‘Uplift you’, ‘Mirror Mirror’, ‘Art therapy and Attempt in minutes games’. Numerous students from various undergraduate and post-graduate courses enthusiastically joined in to engage with the diverse stalls. The majority demonstrated a keen interest in the array of booths, actively participating in all the activities offered. The overall event proved to be a positive and rewarding experience. We expect that participants found this event rewarding, gaining valuable insights into mental health and becoming more proactive in adopting self-care practices.
